c is for cookie

i remember afternoons with chocolate chip cookies hot-out-of-the-oven, cooling on a cookie rack, the scent wafting through the house. my family's eager hands snatched up fresh cookies or snitched dough constantly.

but it wasn't until college that i began my love affair with chocolate chip cookies (ccc).
in fact, i use to dislike chocolate chip cookies. {the horror, i know}
when offered a ccc, i would decline growing up. they were the typical go-to cookie and i wasn't in love with the idea of just chocolate and dough. i wanted oatmeal and butterscotch or something more. in fact, when offered chocolate chip cookie dough, i would pick out the chocolate and just eat the dough.

then freshman year of college hit. i was homesick. the only thing i seemed to crave was chocolate chip cookies. i wanted warm, gooey, melt-in-your-mouth ccc because they reminded me of home, only i had no oven, no car, and hardly any money.

since then i have sampled several ccc recipes and i declare on this night that i, miss becky, have discovered the best chocolate chip cookie recipe known to man. the sweet cookies are soft and gentle, full of flavor and the perfect cookie-texture. not to mention dangerously addicting. and the best part is the recipe is simple. hazzah!

i found the recipe here, and made a few tweaks.

now, after much ado, i present the best chocolate chip cookie recipe. if you wonder how good these are, just ask my co-workers and family members. they vanished in minutes.

the best chocolate chip cookies
 3/4 c. unsalted butter, melted
1 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar

*cream together until blended well. then add:
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 egg
1 egg yolk

*blend well. finally add:
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2 c. all-purpose flour

*once well blended, add in:
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup milk chocolate chips

*grease cookie sheet and form cookies. bake @ 325 degrees F for 15-17 minutes (large tablespoon   size) or 10-12 minutes (teaspoon size).

and there you have it. the secret to happiness.

I love Chocolate Chip Cookies, I will have to try your recipe. And my daughter, 13, hates them...hates chocolate...I tell my husband he ruined her, as he hates chocolate too! ♥
